GIANTHUGE CG TUTORIAL Part 1

Description

Part 2: [link]

I've been meaning to make a coloring tutorial for a while, not just to show everyone how I do it, but to really figure out how my technique works.
I would have made a tutorial sooner, but I kept forgetting to take screenshots of my drawing as I worked on it. Whoops :B

I was told by one of my best art teachers that you learn a lot when you teach. It's totally true. A lot of the time we just unconsciously draw and color, not really stopping to think about HOW we're doing it.

So yeah, this tutorial's been just as much of a learning experience for me as it has been for the rest of you.

Anyway, I mentioned some things up there in the tutorial that you should refer to this artist note for, so here:

For those of your with traditional line art: Scan up your inked drawing at a nice high resolution (Most scanners do this automatically, I think) and open it in Photoshop. If it's too light, tinker around with the brightness/contrast options a little.

If your drawing is labeled as Background in the layer window, go to the Layer drop down menu at the top of the screen and under New Layer, click Layer from Background.

Now go to your little drop down menu on your workspace layer window and change it from Normal to Multiply.

Go about adding your color layers and groups normally underneath your line art and you're good to go~
